Bio

My name is Abbie Armbrecht, and I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I started dancing at the age of three at Miss Kristin’s Dance Studio in Avon Lake, Ohio, where I took various ballet, jazz, tap, and technique classes. I realized my strong passion for dance when I was around 10 years old when I discovered contemporary. Through my contemporary teacher, Rebecca Leuszler, I fell in love with the quality of movement that my body could accomplish through contemporary. I then participated in intensives with several Cleveland companies like The Movement Project and Verb Ballets. I have progressed in my exploration of the style through conventions and intensives as well, taking classes from artists like Dee Caspary, Travis Wall, and Sonya Taheh. I was also a member of my high school dance team, being captain for two years. I have more recently found an interest in education by teaching summer camps and being a substitute teacher at my studio. Now, as a BFA in dance at the Ohio State University, I hope to pursue this new interest, as well as further my technique, performance, and composition skills.
